I did not start my active competition career until I obtained the level of black belt and in fact even then I waited some time then before I started to compete, almost 4 years. Now I regret not competing actively at a coloured belt level or during that time after obtaining my Black Belt. It was during this time that I should have seeked out more competitions and taken part in as many as possible. Had I, I believe that my record would be much better.
Then again the emphasis in Martial Arts should not be placed entirely on the sporting aspect and my philosophical believes on this, combined with my shyness to perform publicly contributed greatly to my decisions
It was the second of these two reason that helped myself make up my mind to compete actively. This was a weakness that I had and a weakness that must be overcome. I honestly don’t know if I have succeed but I will keep going until I do.
Other than my personal competition record I have been involved in organising numerous Regional, State and National championships. I have Officiated, Judge and Refereed at these events. I have coached and Instructed more competitors and students to Regional, State and National titles than I can remember, some I can recall but I feel that it is not fair to list any, unless I can list all. I have held the positions of Vice Chairman, Chairman, Vice President and President at Regional, State and National Level. My experiences in the Martial Arts is not just that of a sporting and practical nature, but has been greatly enhanced at a diplomatic and political level.
I have had high Media coverage in the Geelong Advertiser, News and Echo over the past nine years, as well as some coverage in Australasian TKD and Blitz Magazine also obtaining special guest appearances in local theatre productions e.g. “Chess the rock musical”
My Martial Arts skills and achievements have helped me in my every day life, its has been influential in my achievements outside of the Martial Arts as in employment, other arts forms and sports, my ability to cope under duress and pressure, my desire to continue to learn and change for the better.
As such if I was to list all of my achievements, they then would be to many and numerous to list. All achievements, no mater how small added together helps to become one great one.
